Go Kidz & Rock Community Church
Go kidz started in 1995 in Belfast, Northern Ireland in response to the obvious needs of a generation of kids brought up during “the troubles”. Go-kidz exists to bring hope and a brighter future. We currently work in 30 local schools providing a a mixture of school assemblies, scripture union classes and discovering Christianity classes.
It is our hope to make God relevant to a generation who feel they have no need for a God.
North Belfast ,where we are located, has the lowest educational achievement in Northern Ireland and the highest teenage pregnancy rate. Many people here would define themselves as part of an” underpriviledged generation”. The conflict has taken its toll in many ways with education not seen as a high priority as well as the high unemployment in this area.
We have seen many changes in the last 12 years with a real sense of hope being born in the city of Belfast. With new buildings and jobs providing a skyline of hope, it truly is the phoenix rising from the ashes.
In 2001 Go-kidz became Rock Community church. We currently meet in a rented hall of a school and are beginning to see strong connections with the community emerge. There is a real need for this community to see the real living God - NOT a god packaged up in a religion that seems unapproachable and irrelevant.
While this city has had a political awakening and that is to be commended , we truly are in need of a spiritual awakening.
